make sure you dip your sps from tcmas. lots of aefw and red bugs in that club. remember unless you dip them multiple times"i suggest tropic pro marine coral cure and interceptor in a seperate system you are at risk. I just dont ever want people to make the mistakes i have with acros. It is not a joke, lots of people have them and im willing to bet most dont even know. I lost at least 500 dollars in acro due to thinking i can trust people. i guess that is my two cents for easter, good luck!!

I Agree with Andre watch the Acros I usually try to always get fresh cuts from other reefers over there,or from anywhere for that matter with fresh cut corals if you treat before adding to the tank you'll more then likely nip them in the but, most Nudi's and red bugs lay there eggs near the base of the coral or in the rock just below the base of the coral.

I can honestly tell you from now on i will never put a acro in my tank without having it in quarintine with a minimum of 4 dips. The dips never seem to kill the eggs. Li and fritz at swe tried to warn me when i started and even warned me of the bugs in the club. People just dont get how serious it can be until you have to rip your tank apart.

it is disheartening to think people pass these bugs on from one to another. Now think if people knew they did it, those are what i would call friends.

Thanks Andre and Jim for warning Dan. This is the kind of stuff I like to see our club doing. Dan, hope you have no problems from the frags you got there and can't wait to see the pics!

you probably wont have any problems and chances are your corals are clean like ice said, fresh cuts avoid possibilities of eggs. Not everyone has them and maybe there is barely any that do, it is just good practice to try and keep your tank clean.

Well not to be the devil's advocate here, but red bugs and AEFW can come from ANY club or person that trades corals and even from stores that sell them. Sometimes people don't know they have them. Other times they do and they tell you UP FRONT that they do so you know to do the dipping needed. Others that know but don't say anything are the ones we need to nip in the butt.

I have received at least 3 shipments of corals from people in TCMAS. They have been very healthy, pest free corals. I do my due diligence though and put them through a 3 stage dip before they touch my tank (FWE, Coral Cure, and Revive). Honestly I wouldn't care if I got my corals from TCMAS, NMRC, Saltwater Empire or Pets R' Inn because no matter where I got them they are getting the same dip treatment.

Just my $.02...

I don't think the intention here was to single out a certain club. It just so happens that the current purchases as well as the purchases that caused issue, came from TCMAS. TCMAS's threads say the same thing....dip and Q. I'm thankful for club members sharing so fewer have to live through those hardships. I, for one, wasn't aware until about a year ago that pests were as common as they are. Thanks for your $.02. Smile You make some good points.
