sump question poll
Hey guys and gals i'm rebuilding my sump and got a poll ?. sand for a refugium or stack of rubble rock? I will only have one chamber for either one and not sure which one to go with. i have both and can go either way, just not sure if it would bo good to go with both and put my rock on top of my sand bed with the lights on it, i think it would turn out and be one big clump of algeia, so trying to decide which way to go.

Re: sump question poll
If I did it over again i would use miracle mud and rubble rock. Just my 2 cents worth.

Re: sump question poll
I like to be able to clean my sump out. I'd go for just LR and cheato but that's my just my opinion and I still feel like a newb so it's probably not even worth 2 cents.

Re: sump question poll
I'm resurrecting an old thread. Anyone care to update us or if you didn't post the first time, let us know what's in your sump?

WOW this is an old thread. I started to read it and saw that I posted, then looked at the date....LOL
Re: sump question poll
Yeah....fun to read. I want to see if anyone has changed their methods since back then.
We all know that your sump is empty! Or, maybe it's waterless but being used to house your leftover reef equipment?
I was thinking I would set my sump up the same with rubble rock and chaeto. I am too nervous about needing to clean it to do anything different. My detritis really build up in my sump with the last setup so about twice a year I cleaned her all out.

Re: sump question poll
HEY!!! Good to see a post from you, Mn. Reef! Susan has your sump right? I think it's still dry then. She's taking longer than me to set up her tank.
BTW, we moved which is why my tank is just now getting filled with water after a several month hiatus. We now have a place on a lake!!! I can see a summer Reef BBQ in our near future. I hope you'll consider joining us. And, if anyone ever wants to pop in before then, you're definitely welcome to.
Sorry to derail the thread. Back to sump contents....

Yes, it is still dry. I look at it and the pipes and valves and wonder what the heck am I thinking? I think it must be bigger than my tank which is still dry too.
We need to put in some other sort of flooring where I want the tank to sit, which is one of the reasons I haven't done anything on it. Too many other commitments. But I know I have to do this...
