Aiptasia everywhere!
Ugh...my nano tank has like 10-15 aiptasia that just won't die and keep spreading, a lot of them are in places that are hard for me to reach, I have kalk pasted over several of them exactly one bazillion times , I have injected them with kalk, lemon juice, etc. Peppermint shrimp are out due to the high chance they will pick at or steal food from my non photo corals. What more can I do? I'm sure the heavy feedings the tank gets isn't helping matters and it's annoying as hell, the tank looks great, everything is happy but me, I feel like all I'm seeing is pest anemones and they are ugly!

If it's that hard to get to just put plumbers putty over them, I've done that before and stopped them from spreading more.
Re: Aiptasia everywhere!
Hmm putty. I never thought of that. Some of the rock in there is that eco rock shelf stuff with a ton of crevices and they just move or hide deep in it though.

Re: Aiptasia everywhere!
I've tried all that stuff except the putty, on my aptaishia farm and nothing worked either, so when we got back from vagas, i stopped at saltwater empire and got some aptasia x, and tried it. WoW it worked so far, they havent come back in my small tank, its only been a week. just waiting for the time to start my big tank, It is terribble, i cant even see in it, I'm scared to even post a pic of the aptasia farm. its growing in my sand on the glass on power heads its everywhere.

Re: Aiptasia everywhere!
Yeah This is one of the Main reasons why I don't just drop food in my tank, frozen foods I use a pair of tweasers to feed and if I'm using dry food I only give it to them one small pinch at a time if my food hit's the sand bed once I quit feeding, and I try and run my skimmer wet so it pulls more nutrients from my water column and I do 10 gal weekly water changes on my tank to, plus I have about 4 peppermint shrimp in my tank to and I don't have any Aiptasia in my tanks.

Re: Aiptasia everywhere!
It's only a 24 gallon tank! Way too small for a copperband. And those filefish are cool but rhizo/balano tentacles look pretty similar to aiptasia and if it started nipping it wouldn't take long to kill them. I thought about one for the big tank but not sure if filefish are "tough" enough to stand up for themselves with aggressive fish or not.

Re: Aiptasia everywhere!
what about berghia nudis? They are supposed to work really well. You would need to consider sharing them around the club though as soon as yours are gone so they stay alive. They will only eat the Aiptasia, nothing else by what I have heard. Might be worth a shot if you can't try the peppermints.
Any change the non-photos could go to the sump for a few days to a week while you let the peps kill all tha aiptasia? FYI my pep didn't like the taste of aiptasia, just the fod i was feeding so they are not always going to work...
