I thought a poll might be fun. What's your favorite invert. I LOVE inverts. It's so much fun watching activity in the tank.

My first choice right now is the cleaner shrimp. He's always out in view. He's a little bit greedy and steals food from his neighbors but, I like him anyway.

Also really still enjoy my nass snails. So cool when they pop out of the sand and then bury themselves again when the food is gone!

Third pick...the emerald crabs. I think we like these just because their sightings are so rare. Very Happy

It sounds like Andre's emerald takes the cake.

Our new tang lets the cleaner hop on and go to work. Now that is way cool! The tang is kinda big though. Not sure how long I should keep it in my 75. Sad I had them order one in for me and it's already pretty good sized.

I really liked my coral banded shrimp when I had him. My cleaner was kind of boring, next one was a pain but at least he was out and about. Peppermint hid and then died, sexies were fun to look at but tiny. This reminded me I haven't seen either of our emeralds since we added them after the swap. I should look for them. Oh and we used to have an arrow crab which was creepy but awesome to watch, like a giant underwater spider! (that ate my expensive red hermits for lunch)

I love my Coral Banded Shrimp also. He does have his favorite rock/cave which he resides in but will come out and grab a piece of food and retreat hoarding it! Cleaners are fun as well. Active all the time and visible. Peppermints hid most of the time except for feeding and then they will come and steal something from the serpent star or other bottom dweller!

I would have to say a cleaner for the reason that everyone else said they like to be active.

I'm resurrecting an old thread just because I have a new favorite invert. I love, love, love my little sexy shrimp in the nano at work. I can't wait to add a pom pom crab as well. Smile Anyone else have anything to add?

My nonpoll favorite would be Tube Worms. I would like to collect more. For the poll I would vote for my Skunk shrimp. Very colorful and smart. They stay hidden during the day, but come out under lower light. They learned in about 5 minutes how to swim to my brine shrimp feeder and take what they want. I am coveting a harlequin shrimp. Gorgeous.

Probably my Crocea clam. Wink My next fave (don't have yet but really want to get) is a Tuxedo urchin. Cute little guys with serious cleaning power and such character. I already have the Nass snails and emerald crab (which mine is ALWAYS out cleaning) which are neat too. And I've never had the joy of owning a shrimp just yet so I can't say much about those.

Good call. It's funny. I have never thought of a clam being on the eligibility list. They are very cool critters for sure.

The fav. invert I have owned to date would definately be a Peacock Mantis Shrimp. I had a 6 inch long one for around a year. It made awesome caves under the liverock and used all the rubble in the tank to build it's intrance just right and to fill in any other holes thru the rock work it didn't like. Very shy creatures that spend most of their time in their cave but can't resist coming out for a hunk of shrimp or krill on the end of a feeding stick. By far the most interesting, beautiful colored, and fun to feed invet I have ever owned. Worth setting up a tank for Exclamation Favorite invert 818842
