So I have got a real bad case of the hair algea bug (again) not sure why but it is pissing me off. I think Mary from riverside was saying that if I bump my mag to like 1800 it should wipe it out. is that right?
I have been testing and the PO4 is <1ppm so I am not to sure what is the cause of it I have not changed anything

That is fine green as can be. I was going to try the algea scrubber so I made it all up and it did not fit like I planned so I am going to scrap that DIY project. so now I have one of them going to collect dust!!LOL

Bump the mag up to 1500 where it should be. Pull what you can off the rock,.A water change would not hurt either. You could try shortening your light cycle or a 3 day blackout.Urchins love the stuff but knock stuff over and eat coraline.

I had a HUGE hair algae issue and my mag was at 1550. Typically the mag idea is to kill bryopsis not hair algae but it may work for both. Also it was said that it's not just the mag that kills bryopsis, it's something in the Kent (i think that's the brand) Tech M solution that kills it. No one really know what does the trick but other mag supplements don't work as the Tech M stuff does...

I too care of mine over a month with a few 3 day blackouts, manually trimming, and scrubbing the recently trimmed area with a toothbrush. It worked but was some work. I have very little hair algae now only on the back rocks and leave it there for the blenny.
