Question???
So I am not sure what to get... I have some, well more than some alot of hair algea and not sure if I should get a sea hair or a Lettuce Nudibranch I know they both love the HA but the Lettuce Nudibranch loves the power heads as well.
Thoughts?

Re: Question???
Have you ever seen a huge sea hare? They get really big and eat like pigs, one would probably clean your tank great and fast but then die. Lettuce nudis you would have to cover your powerheads with sponges but probably more suited, especially if you can pass if around. Never personally dealt with either though.
Your tank seems to just go in algea phases, I don't know that adding an algea eater is going to fix the issue long term, you've got tangs don't you? Make them work for their dinner. My foxface picks at the rocks all the time, maybe you should send some algea my way. J/K!

Re: Question???
I have got 2 tnags a yellow and a kole they dont touch it and to be honest I dont remember the last time I fed my fish so they work for it.lol I am thinking of getting a fox to add also. I have had good luck with them in the past.
It is getting very old having this issue now going on 6-8 months and just want my tank back...LOL

Re: Question???
the best thing you can do is figure out what's fueling your Hair algea not put more of a load on your tank, when you come down to pick up your stuff bring some water and I'll test your Phos, I bet there high. have you thought of doing a phos reactor? I know now that since I have Vishnu's fish which I'm going to have to start thinning my stock again because my fish load has tripled since the last time you seen my tank I'm having a hell of a time controlling my phos, I even have a couple patches of HA here and there plus keeping our homes closed up so tight because of winter don't help either.
Re: Question???
I am running GFO and carbon in a reactor now for about 4 weeks and not helping. Also cut my light down to 2 hours a day. I amnot sure where to even start. I have been doing water changes every two weeks of 20g. Going to change out my GFO tomorrow. Getting very frustrated it has been almost a year. Kind of started when I got that skimmer from Jason. Maybe it is not set right or something cause I can go weeks and there will not be any skimmate or very little.
I will bring some water when I come over.

Re: Question???
yeah if your Nutrients are that high to fuel HA you have to remember Ferric like Carbon are sponges they will only holed so much then start leaking it right back into your water column most carbons are only good for about a week then the cells fill up and there not doing there job right same with ferric depending on the grade the longer it will be active.
and yeah I would say if your not pulling that much skimmate out it needs to be adjusted. or check your Air intake and make sure you don't have salt creep restricting the air flow. and is your skimmer a mesh-wheel or pin wheel? if mesh it may be time to change the mesh.
Food for thought.

Re: Question???
It has the pin wheel on it but I do have the stuff for the mesh mod. I was thinking of selling it and getting a new one.
Ok Thanks for the info Jim maybe I will change out the GFO and carbon weekly...wow that could get spendy with the GFO. Carbon is not so bad.

Re: Question???
I'd like some of my water tested too. HD, if you go, can you take a sample of mine with you? My test results are always .25. Doesn't seem to matter what I do or have done. I don't I trust it.
