Disappearing shrimp??
So I purchased 2 peppermint shrimp and 2 (one DOA) Scarlet Skunk shrimp. We acclimated them with the drip method, and added them to the tank. They immediately took cover, and we haven't ween them since. Is this normal? Or do you think they have died? We added them to the tank over a week ago.

Re: Disappearing shrimp??
Pep are very shy, I used to have a couple and never saw the stupid things, then we moved the tank and I assume killed them because I haven't seen them since. Cleaners it seems to go 50/50, the first one I had was very shy so I got another because I'd heard it makes them more active, well they were out all the time but they were also eating all my hermits so I ripped out the first one and gave it away, the newer one was always out and about. Now that all my shrimp died I'm not planning on getting more really, cleaners steal food from the coral when you try to feed them, just pester them bad. I kinda want a mated pair of coral bandeds though, I liked mine. Anyways, keep an eye out for molts, mine always molt right after going in the tank and maybe throw some food in at night and see if any show up.

well you should still find there exoskeletons even if they died. Do you have anything in your tank that you would think would have eaten them? I would say they are hiding though, when your lights are off tonight "late" turn on a flash light and look around for them. They come out more at night i have found.

I will try the flashlight thing. I don't think I have anything in the tank that would eat them...do I Andre? Al lI have added is a Blue Tang and the CUC - Snails, Hermits, and the Shrimp. Nothing else that I can think of.

no you would need either a carnivore or something. If that is all you added i would say no there is nothing. I had shrimp up until the trigger ate them with no problems with the rest of the stuff you have.

Re: Disappearing shrimp??
We just put three sexy shrimp ( i dont know if they have an more official name ?) in our tank like a week and a half ago..... I've been able to find one, one seems to have disappeared, and one committed suicide by climbing through the holes in the cover and lying on the back of the tank... he was unhappy. I probably wouldnt have even noticed him if I hadnt been checking a cord..... have you checked behind your tank?
