Which Snails? Empty Which Snails?

Post by Dedex Thu Feb 05, 2009 1:04 pm

I need to get a CUC for the 10G. What kind of snails would be the best. I am unsure if I will get hermits for this tank. Any suggestions? I believe that I have cerith, nerite and astrea in the 75G. The astrea seemed to die off within a few months, and most of the cerith and nerits seem to still be kicking. I have one hermit that grew tremendously and like to make a mess with the smaller chunks of live rock in the 75G, that is why I'm unsure if I want them in the 10G. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Astraea or Lithopoma are good Algae snails cerith are good for getting Algae just under the surface of the sand, and Nassarius vibrex and Tonga are great Scavenger snails.

I've never heard of the Lithopoma...I'll have to check into them. I will probably give the Astreas a try again too. Thanks for the advice guys!

i have heard that astrea and nassarius are all you need. Astrea in my opinion dont live long just like margaritas. I have heard good things about tiger turbos, not really cheap but they wont die right away.
