Re: What keeps me going.
Oh Zeo works Great but IMO replacees a lot of your Natural ecosystem, and once you stop using it is when stuff starts to happen, 2 of my reefer friends that stopped using it after using it one for 3 years and the other used it for 1 1/2 years there Parameters got so out of whack there tanks crashed, Like Vishnu's tank he used it for only a few Month's and Tommy has been fighting High Nitrates for about three month's now, Ammonia,Nitrites were high the first month then Nitrates sky rocketed and have been high ever since even with random water changes, it's like we started the whole tank from scratch.
I have Moved many established tanks and sure your going to go threw a mini spike and depending how long it takes to get it set back up the longer set back you may have but we didn't waste that much time getting Vishnu's tank set back up and the Bio-load is and 1/8 of what vishnu had and Tommy is still fighting trying to get parameters in check.

Re: What keeps me going.
Corals have nice color, but I think the tank looks kinda fake. All the frags seem to be the same size, like they were all bought and placed in the tank.

I Know it works, works great I have read and know lots that use it myself I just know how it can really throw things out of wack that stop using it too, I'm just commenting on those that have used it and stopped.
Just some things to look at before one gets to far into it, anyone that Knows me knows I like taking a Natural aproach to things. and if you look at some that do use it and the complex systems and equipment there using along with Zeo produces I have to be a realist to I can't afford it.plus with the maintenance one has to keep up using these produces stability is the key factor to maintain a healthy environment anyways so if you have ALK,CAL,MAG, K, stable and one keeps up with lower Phos, and 0 nitrates. naturally colors will pop out with or with out using any supplement like ZEO if not monitored or maintained your not going to get the results your looking for anyways. If I was totally anti ZEO I wouldn't be offering these produces to Andre which should be there Monday if not let me Know.but I know he has a good concept on stability and good husbandry skills that's why I thought of him when I came across these Items. and can't wait to see the results he gets from using them.
Re: What keeps me going.
I just need to do somthing. Im so sick of my red slime and bubble algae. I do stay on top of my ALK,CAL,MAG I like to say my husbandry is good.

Re: What keeps me going.
Dan you do have a pack of charcoal don't you? That seemed to kick my slime. I want to say Garrett or someone on this site found the same result when charcoal was added. I will look up in my Julian Sprung book when I get home. I am on vacation for now.

Re: What keeps me going.
You got me thinking about what keeps me going. First off, I really don't have a comment about the zeo since I've not used it and most I know of it was from Vishnu's talk waaayyy back. I know frags I've gotten from Andre don't look the same in my tank but have always figured it's from different lights and different water chemistry too. However, I've been happy with anything I've gotten from him before and after he started doing zeo.
Now for what keeps me going. This changes from time to time. If I'm just watching my tank, I'm pretty content and enjoy it especially after some of our recent changes (changing to ATI bulbs and redoing the aquascape). If I see tanks like Andre's, Jim's, Tiffany's and many others then I realize that I could do so much more with mine. I feel really hindered by amount of cash I can spend without feeling my hobby is cheating my family. So, I try to do the best I can with what I have available for now. I keep changing what I want to keep. I was happy with softies for quite a while. Then I got a few pieces of LPS and the bug bit me hard. Then I got some SPS and while it doesn't appeal to me quite as much as the LPS (YET), I do really like the variety of color and texture in the tank. Each time I make these kinds of changes, my tank needs change and I'm off on a mission.
Great discussion.
