i had a question about seeding rock? I have a lead an about 500 lbs of base rock, at the price i can not pass up. i have a 210 gallon stock tank and was thinking i could put the base rock and about 100lbs of my live rock in the tank will that seed it pretty good? i have a big iwaki pump for movment and some spare lights, what else should i do?

it might be tuff to fit 600 lbs of live rock in a 210, but for seeding it yeah, just make sure your parameters are up to par. skimmer, heater, and such will help.

the tank is a big oval and i think i can fit most of it in there, how long do you think it would take?

Are we talking dried out rock or base rock that is already live?

Re: diy live rock?
depends is the rock supposedly cured and live. If it is dead you i would acid it and than cure it in saltwater first. than after nitrates came down you could seed it to speed up the process. If you had to do than maybe a month. make sure you put as much flow in there as you can. otherwise you wouldnt really need to seed the rock unless you are just looking for coralline on all the rock before you put it in your display.
