Christmas wish list Empty Christmas wish list

Post by blennieluvr Thu Dec 19, 2013 10:31 am

Gary Parr and Christine Williams talked about what to get a reefer for Christmas this week on their Reef Threads podcast and I thought they did a good job on it.  As in, we don't want to open a box and find a bag with a lionfish (or any other live critter for that matter) in it but, we'd be glad for a box of salt or super glue gel!

Anyone got hobby stuff on their Santa list?  I ask this every year and after listening to the podcast, I figured I'd ask again.

As for me, my hubby just told me last night he needs more ideas for me.  What he wanted to get didn't work out.  I told him I just want help setting up my new RODI unit (that I've had for a year Embarassed) and auto-topoff.  I will also be working on my 2nd tank build too but will put those details in my tank build thread.

I hope you were all NICE this year and get your reefer stuffs from Santa!

I don't want live fish instead, I want the fish I have to STAY alive. But for a real wish list, it would include, a small halide light for my new 75, Tropic Marin salts, a great test kit and a book on dosing and keeping parameters at the right levels.
But No ponies, please.
Dream list would be a huge 400 gallon, L shaped tank and all the equipment. But I haven't been that good!

LOL  I'll have to google L shaped tanks to see if anyone has done anything like that.

If I had been really good, I would wish for a coldwater setup but I, apparently, haven't good enough either.  I have contemplated I can't tell you how many times tearing down my 75g and using what moolah I can get from that to fund my coldwater setup.  I just can't get myself to pull the trigger!

FYI - The better kits are designed to measure only one thing.  So, you would get one test kit for calcium, one for magnesium and so forth.

Hey, I know how to set up a coldwater tank. Unplug you heater. Someone at my house did that. Not so good for the tropicals. My koi tank needed fresh water so I threw in 3 big shovelfuls of snow. They loved it. Still warmer than living outside.

I actually got some fish stuff for part of my xmas gift, I was supposed to pick out a new nano but instead decided to buy a light, ditch the biocube and move my nps back into my 7.5 gallon cube. The biocube got way too hot this summer and the fan sounded like it was dying anytime I turned the light on. Turns out one of the fans wires had been snipped at some point. Anyways I got a new little fuge type light for my freshwater nano and an ecoxotic ecopico light for the nps tank, with an added blue strip. Now I'm looking into retrofit kits for the biocube, maybe set it back up around tax time. I really want some livestock, fish, some sun coral to try again, shrimp etc. But refuse to order this time of year.
