Can hermit crabs breed.
this morning I was studying my 20 gallon and I saw a ver;y small hermit crab. I have never purchased one this size. He had a little bit of hair algae growing on him. Is it possible for hermit crabs to breed in an aquarium? He is way to small to be one of the older ones just stuffed in a small shell. His antennae and legs are hair fine. If they are breeding I'm thinking my financial future is in the bag, or should I say in the shell.

I guess I don't know the answer to this but it seems to me more likely that the little guy hitchhiked in on a rock or coral. If they did breed in our aquariums, we'd not have to replenish them so often when we beef up our CUCs.

Hmm, I must owe someone some money then, as I have only gotten new coral from club members. What is the price for teeny weeny hermit crabs. I can not give him back as we are really attached (sort of) to him. We have named him Eugene Crabs.
Hey wait a minute. I also have yellow sponges in that tank, and fat starfish. OMG It's time for a Krabby Patty. Hey, Squidward..
