I have 3 frags of ORA birdsnest of paradise for sale and going for 30$ each there 2"x2"

bump anybody intrested? these normally go for 40$ atht the size I'm sellin, but I'm selling them for 30$ one heck of a deal come get umm.

Price determination is a personal decision, but I know I couldn't make a decision without seeing the actual frags...

This is posted on the Northern Minnesota forum. The majority of people on the site are in Bemidji or further north. That is a really far distance to drive for a $30 coral. Maybe you could offer shipping? SpeeDee Delivery handles the tri-state area and it isn't all that bad for price either. Also USPS is typically overnight since you are within the state.

Honestly though, pictures are everything on a for sale thread for corals. Without a good picture of the actual frags it is hard for anyone to make a decision to purchase.

Chefb, I believe people have told you why they haven't been buying your stuff. CDNess summed it up nicely again in the post just before mine but I have seen other posts on your sale threads telling you the same thing. You are simply too far from most of us and we can't see good pics of the actual pieces. I hope you already do or will consider posting this stuff up somewhere else. There are club members up here that often have those same corals so we can much more easily get them from each other than from you, a fourish hour drive away.

i understand, but i'm just trying to to broden my sales. I know it's a far drive, but some times they do drive out here. I will stop selling on here.

This wasn't meant to stop you from selling on here. All it was supposed to do is to let you in on a standard marketing tactic. Learn your customer base by asking the following questions:

1. What is prevalent in the club. I can't sell my RBTAs up there because everyone has one. Same goes for my BirdsNest corals.

2. How far away are you from the target market? You are about 4 hour drive away. IF someone is driving that way great, but with the economy the way it is there has been less traveling in general. Consider other methods to deliver the coral to the target market. I sent a box of 15 corals to a guy in easterm MN for $7 overnight. Easy price to pay for a sale of a few corals.

3. Price the corals according to the market. My birdsnest used to get me $30 a frag locally. Now it's more like $10 - 15. If you have the overstock and need to move them, price them to sell. If the cost of the coral plus shipping is higher than a LFS, there is no reason to buy them. My LFS sells the BOP colonies for $40 and they are about 4" around.

You may want to consider letting them grow out a bit and bring them to the tri-club swap coming up in January. You could meet many members as well as offload some excess corals. Maybe you could trade too allowing you to get something new in the process. Just a thought.

Don't be discouraged, just use a bit of the info provided to market well and things will sell.

well thanks cdness. no feelings hurt and It wont really keep me from selling. i just wont sell something if its like a coral or something you know sell something worth the drive. I can mabye sell things as a bundell or stuff like that. thanks for all the info dudes.
