Well Today sucks
So I wake up to my retrun sucking air and water on my floor my skimmer started to skim wet and that took all the water out of my sump to my floor. So I shut off my return and cleaned up the water and stuff went to turn my return back on and nothing it dead so in tring to take that off I broke one of my bulkhead for my return at the bottom of my tank. So now I have 3 things to try and fix today.. this is not going to be a fun day. Hope I can get my return working.

Hope I don't have to deal with something like that any time soon. Sorry to hear that, but you got it working again which is good.

WHEW! Sounds like you got it under control in time. These kinds of things just kinda go with the hobby, don't they? Seems almost every time I work in my tank nowadays, I knock something off it's perch!

Re: Well Today sucks
i thought you had an in-sump MSX skimmer last time I was over there... Is the cup actually big enough to drain your sump return section or do you have an external bucket for skimate?
If you are using an external bucket there are a few different auto shut-off options that could help prevent an overflow. They are fairly easy to make and automatically shut off the airflow to the skimmer when the bucket gets full.
My MSX sometimes does that too where all of a sudden it decides to run really wet and the bucket is overflowing when I get home. I don't have an external bucket though so it all just drains back into the skimmer section and creates a bubbly mess...

Yes I still have that skimmer and I do have a external drain on it. How do you make the shut off thing for it?
