Moving Soon
But the propane went out ~again~ last night. Tank is down to 66 as of this morning. CRAP huh? Slowly warming up the room, so it should be at temp later today.
Anyway, if there's anyone that wants to learn the ins and outs of setting up a saltwater tank, April 15th I will be re-setting-up my tank at my new house. Its an open invite for anyone. Time doesn't matter really, I can plan around whenever anyone wants to do it. IF anyone does.

Re: Moving Soon
Figured out what the issue is with my heater. YAY! So far nothing died from the low temps, everything actually looks decently happy now that its warming up. But the warm up is sloooooow.

Re: Moving Soon
I can come after work.
Sue, this would be a good time to see how sumps work! I hope you can make it.

Re: Moving Soon
Yup, I figured that's Why I'd make an open invite for people to see how to set up a tank. So you can see how one way of doing it is done.

Re: Moving Soon
I would like to see it, if it's after 12:00 as I work that day. Wasn't that the speaker day too?

Re: Moving Soon
Nope, its a Monday. So I don't think so? Closing is at 1pm, so it won't be until around, what, 3pm ish when I can get there anyway. At the earliest, I'm assuming.

Re: Moving Soon
Aww, alright. Oh well! I will have my fish-tank peninsula style, and backwards, so people will still beable to see it anyway.

OK. My day is off too and for some reason I was thinking it had been changed to tomorrow. I'll see what I can do.

Re: Moving Soon
So everything went great~!
Until one of the 2 smaller 'moving containers' got too hot. Ya know, the one with the corals in it...
UGH, right? I don't know total losses yet. I think I found it in time to minimize it. Worst of luck. And of course, there's a leak in the plumbing that can't be fixed right away (and I'm a bazillion times grateful that I put a sheet of tileboard under the tank before putting it all together)
Hopefully this all comes together tomorrow or Thursday.

Re: Moving Soon
Alright. So now that its been a day, I know what my losses were from my 'cooking my tank'.
All my big snails are gone.
All my sps is gone except for the rose mili and my cactus coral
my LPS made it, except for my new little frogspawn. And he's still got flesh deep within his mouth, so he may be back by the end of the week. One of my brain corals isn't looking too hot, but he's looked way worse, so in a few weeks he should be normal again too.
Clam is gaping, but alive. I think moving him would be the death of him, otherwise I'd ask Holly or Cammie to take him until my tank is settled again.
All my zoanthids and the anemones made it. They actually look happy, stupid things.
Bi-color blenny went carpet surfing, I thought he was going to make it but he ended up dieing.
Tang and clownfish are good.
My biggest and saddest loss is my pink birdsnest. He died last night in the bucket.

Re: Moving Soon
So, if the clam hasn't snapped out of it by tomorrow, does anyone have any advice?

Re: Moving Soon
So sorry for your losses. That's gotta be a bit tough. Hopefully, those that are hanging on pull through! Especially that clam!

Re: Moving Soon
Well, I think everything I had was local. Like I said, biggest loss was the birds nest, since the person I got it from is no longer in the hobby!

Re: Moving Soon
Well I just happen to have some corals I need to get rid of Jodi....
Sorry to hear about the High temp before the Move.

Re: Moving Soon
It wasn't before the move, which would have been corrected. It was in the middle of the move. And I'll have to come over and steal corals from you now!
Clam didn't make it. I do have pics from last night, when he was gaping. Never came back.

Re: Moving Soon
Oh super bummer. I love that clam. I have cactus coral, that I got from the 210 sale. My zoanthids are not too happy now, but later I can share.
So sorry

Re: Moving Soon
Oh, I'm looking at it positively. From here on out, I can have a GOOD tank for my creatures, instead of trying to muddle it through as I go along. Like, log books and stuff.

Re: Moving Soon
Alright... Soooo
Its been a week. Its a disaster area in my tank. I'm almost 100% starting over. The anemones are 'okay'. My biggest BTA bleached, but he was always iffy on color. I bought him bleached worse than he is now. My colored one shrunk, but bubbled (go figure THAT one out) My mini-maxi's don't know anything happened.
I'm down to 1 sad, bleached looking ricordea. The others melted
my 2 nice looking open brains aren't happy. one got crushed a bit, he may come out of it, I'm not touching him. The other one receeded heavily, he's still got flesh
My war coral bleached on top, but only in some spots. He's alright though, feeding tentacles are out at night.
My colony of duncans is unhappy, not fully out, but they're not dieing either.
SPS are gone. Only the cactus coral is left of them, but that coral sorta bounces from everything.
Zoanthids-some are fine, some are unhappy. my purple death colony is half open, most have opened a little, so they're still alive. My grandis palys aren't as happy though, they've yet to open
Fish are fine though, other than my carpet surfer that didn't make it. I'll do a water change on Thursday, and report back after that.

Re: Moving Soon
The grandis will take awhile if you made them angry. Sorry to hear of the SPS losses but if you make it to Fargo I can hook you up with a nice size frag pack to get you going again.
